Safehouse ‘82

Premiere: November 2019
Remount: TBD

It's November, 1982. Five years after the events of Safehouse '77.

You've been invited back to Sharon's house, but this time there's no party... only a high-stakes mission with serious consequences. Sharon needs your help, and she needs it now. Lives are at stake, including hers. Can you work together with your fellow audience members -- and members of Sharon's exiled team of secret agents -- to pull off the impossible?

Tensions are high and the clock is ticking -- but don't worry; you'll still have the chance to catch your breath, have a drink, and maybe watch some MTV.

Safehouse ‘82 is an interactive spy thriller inspired by true events... events that the CIA wishes you didn't know about. Are you ready to step into your role as a full-fledged operative?

FAQs and Advisories

What kind of experience is this? +

Safehouse '82 is a site-specific interactive spy thriller inspired by true events from CIA history. Each night, 13 guests will be brought into a high-stakes mission with life-or-death consequences. During this two-hour experience, audience members will have the chance to interact with characters, uncover secrets, and perform spy-themed tasks in a highly interactive environment inspired by the culture and technology of 1982.

How long is the experience? +

From arrival to departure, the full experience will run slightly over two hours. Please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before showtime to ensure you have time to park and check in.

Is this a haunt? Is it scary? +

No. While Safehouse '82 aims to recreate the tension and thrills of a spy movie (including simulated violence and death), there are no elements of horror or terror in the show. Audience members will never be assaulted or threatened.

Will food and drinks be served? +

Yes! Your ticket includes light snacks and up to three alcoholic beverages. If you have any dietary restrictions or concerns, please email us at info@safehouse82.com. All food and drink is gluten-free.

Is there a dress code? +

Since the experience takes place in 1982, we encourage you to dress in period-appropriate attire -- but this is not required.

You will be standing and moving around, so we also encourage comfortable shoes. High heels, hats or other large accessories, and large bags are highly discouraged.

Do I have to participate in activities or conversations? +

Not at all. Participation in every element of the show is strictly voluntary. We only ask that you follow the venue rules (see below) and that you obey any instructions related to your own safety.

What is your policy on phones and mobile devices? +

Cell phones and electronic mobile devices must be silent and hidden from view at all times. We encourage you to leave them with the door attendant before entering. No photos or videos are allowed during the show. Violation of any of these rules will result in your immediate removal from the experience with no refund.

What other rules and restrictions should I be aware of? +

  • Please be respectful toward cast members and show staff at all times, and do not behave in a manner that disrupts the experience for other audience members.

  • Do not open closed doors (except for the front door, if you need to leave the show or take a break).

  • Alcoholic beverages may only be served to you by a cast member. There is a strict limit of three alcoholic drinks per guest. You may help yourself to snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • Do not use or handle any electronic equipment unless instructed by a cast member.

  • Please speak to a cast member if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe for any reason. You may also speak to the door attendant by exiting through the front door.

  • If you violate any rules, you may be given a verbal warning at the discretion of cast members and staff. If this occurs, any further violations will result in immediate removal from the show. However, you may be removed with no warning if the cast and staff deems it necessary. (As noted above, violation of our cell phone/mobile device policy will result in immediate removal with no warning.)

Where is the venue and where should I park? +

The venue is located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Arrival information will be provided to you after you purchase your ticket.

Street parking in the neighborhood is very limited, so we encourage ridesharing or public transportation. The arrival point is approximately a 15 minute walk from the Vermont/Sunset Red Line station. There are also two paid parking lots available within walking distance. Further information and recommendations will be provided after purchase.

What is your policy on late arrivals? +

Due to the nature of the experience, late arrivals cannot be accommodated. You must be present at the arrival point by the time noted on your ticket. No refunds will be given if you miss the experience by arriving late.

Do you offer ticket refunds or exchanges? +

We do not offer any refunds or exchanges on purchased tickets. However, if you cannot attend the show, you may transfer your ticket to another person. Please be sure to email us at info@safehouse82.com with the updated guest contact information.

Is the venue handicap accessible? +

Entering or exiting the venue requires navigating a small staircase with five (5) steps. Once inside, the vast majority of the experience is accessible for guests with limited mobility.

Please feel free to contact us at info@safehouse82.com with any questions or concerns. If you have any concerns during the show, please inform a cast member or the door attendant. We promise to do our best to ensure that you have the best experience possible.

Is bag/coat check available? +

Yes, you may leave bags, coats, and cell phones with the door attendant. They will be looked after during the duration of the show; however, we cannot be held responsible for any lost items.

Reviews

Once again, Spy Brunch LLC has created one of the most thoroughly entertaining of all the immersive theater productions I have ever seen.
— Broadway World
[K]eeping an audience of 13 people focused and together is a difficult challenge that the performers somehow manage to pull off.
— No Proscenium
Big reveals and fantastic moments are spread throughout, and it did feel like a real-life spy game.
— Horrorbuzz
[N]ot only a worthy sequel but a charming experience in its own right.
— Nightmarish Conjurings
